Rock Me

Sister Rosetta Tharpe’s crossover hit is a breakthrough for my character Azulee of Motor City at War. “Rock Me” is one of those gospel songs that might be about divine love—or just the ordinary human kind. I didn’t know this until I did some research, but Tharpe’s version borrows heavily from the original gospel version, “Hide Me in Thy Bosom,” written by Thomas Dorsey and sung by the Dixie Hummingbirds. Both are great in their own way.
