Hastings Street Boogie
John Lee Hooker was in Detroit just after World War II ended, but he hung around the blues bars on Hastings Street and paid homage to them in music. Here is his musical tribute, Hastings Street Boogie, and here’s a photograph of him on Hastings Street itself, which was used on one of his early album covers.
